Silencing

July 20, 2019

Part 1:

I followed the trail into the centre of the spire

The comet, blinding, dripped in the sky above

Hardly remembering to blink or respire

I made a silent pray for the people I love

My eyes closed and I took one final step more

It started as a whisper then grew into a scream

Emanating from the sky, the walls, the floor

I had fallen full bodied into an ineffable stream

It was then I realized the voice now made sense

But it's words I had always known

Like my mind was reprogrammed to think in past tense

My thoughts were never mine I was never alone

The eyes looked upon me in the same way I looked in on myself

They meant well but this had been a mistake

All in the name of happiness and health

They'd snipped something in me that was never meant to break

I forgave them for opening the door

Then greeted myself with a polite hello

At least there won't be storms anymore

I just can't comprehend the world I left in the spire below

I followed the trail into the centre of the spire

The comet, blinding, dripped in the sky above

Hardly remembering to blink or respire

I made a silent pray for the people I love

My eyes closed and I took one final step more
