I Don't Listen to the Wind

May 20, 2021

Part 1:

I cannot turn back

It was pitch black

I chose this

I chose the abyss

The wind was not wise

It seeks my demise

I followed the track

I cannot turn back

I snuck my way to the centre of the spire

Clearing suddenly lit by violent fire

Slowly, silently, I saw it appear

As the wind whispered words I refused to hear

A way forward where there wasn't one before

Bound betwixt twisting worlds: a door

I clenched a harrowed hand into a fist

The clearing, hallowed, had filled with mist

The gateway gleamed

Repentance redeemed

The wind's weak wrath protested

The ground shook as Earth attested

I felt falters in my convictions

Swarmed with fractured contradictions

But I cannot turn back

I cannot turn back

I stepped forth like a true devotee

Knowing my sacrifice will set my god free

While the fire roared

Mother Gaia snored

And the wind relieved the ancient pact

My mind panicked but it was too late to act

Eyes reopened but I could not see

As they no longer belonged to me

I cannot turn back

It was pitch black

I chose this

I chose the abyss

The wind was not wise

It seeks my demise

I followed the track

I cannot turn back
