It is nice to finally see someone who stands up and fights,

For our truth, for our justice, for our happiness and our rights

Oh, how bright your armour shines, kid, it's a hero's true attire,

It suits your shining attitude and your will that will not tire

But this odious villainy that you've sworn yourself against

Didn't emerge from hell, but is a natural consequence

Of humanity's self-defeating appetite for decay

And that hollowing hunger only grows more dire each day

Your fight's not just against a foe, but against the ceaseless tide,

How are you meant to keep him out when he's already inside?

I get it- you're a hero, you have principles and dreams

You outsmart the silly villain and his silly villain schemes

You reject my dim reality and much prefer your own

One where love and harmony can defeat any evil known

I don't want to be a hater, kid, I wish your world was true

But, if I were a gambling man, I wouldn't bet on you

In this world a lie can dance and boldly sway

The truth, with its many shades, struggles to find its way

Yet in your eyes, a spark, against the shadow's heavy leer,

A promise that in complexity, truth will persevere?

But your sword, however sharp, can't cut through webs unseen

The real battle is taking place in the spaces inbetween

The war will come to you— as it did with me

By the time I looked down I was up to my knee

I was stabbing and slicing and doing my best

But the shadow dragged me under as it did with the rest—

You step out of line— you die— I know it isn't fair

But why else do you think we would put that line there?

It is nice to finally see someone who stands up and fights,

For our truth, for our justice, for our happiness and our rights

Oh, how bright your armour shines, kid, it's a hero's true attire,
